Baileyville Benefit Tournament this Weekend

(KMZA)--The annual Baileyville Benefit Tournament is set this weekend and will be held at a new location this year—the Nemaha Central High School in Seneca.

Organizer Kenny Schmitz says proceeds from this year’s basketball and volleyball tournament will go to benefit three individuals who have medical issues—3-month-old Max Hammes, 22-month-old Graham Fleury Blakeley, and 14-year-old Karsyn Aylward.

Organizer Dan Broxterman says there are a few extra events planned during this year’s benefit. Wade Talley will perform at 6 Saturday evening in the high school band room. Bob Fisher, of Centralia, will have free throw shooting exhibition and try to set another record on Sunday before the auction that evening and there will be a three-point shooting contest during the championship game Sunday, with $200 being awarded for each three-point shot up to $2,500.

The tournament will begin at 8 both Saturday and Sunday mornings. The championship game will be held at about 4 Sunday afternoon with an auction following at 6 featuring 250 donated items.

Last year’s benefit raised around $80,000.
