(KAIR)--An Atchison police officer, accused of battery after a domestic altercation earlier this month has resigned from the department.
According to Police Chief Mike Wilson, the resignation submitted by 50-year-old Bobby Young was effective February 9th.
Young, along with his live in companion, 45-year-old Kellie Schuetz was arrested February 4th after deputies with the Atchison County Sheriff's Department responded to a disturbance at their residence. Both were observed to have visible injuries related to the altercation.
Atchison County Attorney Jerry Kuckelman says that he is waiting on more reports before he moves forward with the case.
Both Young and Schuetz posted a $2,500 bond and have been released from custody.
