(KNZA)--The Chairman of the Board of the Girard National Bank family of banks has died.
Martin Schifferdecker was 80-years-old when he died unexpectedly Friday night.
His oversight, and leadership, included, locally, the National Banks of Hiawatha, Holton, Horton and Wetmore, as well as GNB Mortgage Company.
Among his survivors are his wife of 56-years, Sandra, and three children, including Joy Shoop, a former resident of Hiawatha.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning in Girard, with the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, in Girard, handling the arrangements.
