(KAIR)--The Atchison Public Library is in the beginning stages of a nearly $400,000 renovation project, the first to the building since 1985.
Library Director Gary Landeck came before Atchison City Commissioners Monday to present the planned upgrades and to ask for their help in gathering public support for the project.
The renovations will take place in the library's lower level and will include upgrades to the children's library as well as modernizing the meeting rooms. Lighting and mold problems will also be addressed.
Landeck says that the project will be completely paid for by the library itself, with the help of donations from two private citizens.
