(KAIR)--St. Joseph police have found no creditable threat after receiving reports of an armed gunman in the city.
According to KQ2-TV, police were sent an alert Tuesday morning after receiving an anonymous call that someone was shooting an assault gun from a vehicle that had just come off of the highway. However, officials were unable to reach the caller after receiving that report.
The plates connected to the vehicle were connected to a man wanted in an Ohio homicide investigation.
The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in the search for the gunman. Sheriff Mike Strong says there were many inconsistencies with the information they received regarding the incident.
The area near Central High School was searched, but no one was found in the area. The St. Joseph school district was put into a lockdown as a precaution, but students did resume a normal schedule.
