( KNZA)--There will be a number of contested races during the April 7th general election for school board positions in Jefferson County.
There will be a contested race for one of the four open positions on the Valley Falls USD 338 board. Incumbent Carrie Belveal is being challenged by John Shipley for position three.
There’s a contested race for one of the five open positions on the Jeff West USD 340 Board. Betty Majors is challenging incumbent Shannon McMahon for position 7, member at large.
There will be contested races for two of the four open positions on the Oskaloosa USD 341 board. Incumbent Kimberly Shufflebarger is being challenged in her bid for re-election to position 2 by Jill Guilfoyle, and Gary Willits is being challenged his bid for re-election to position 3 by Megan Milner.
On the McLouth USD 342 Board, three candidates are seeking position 7, member at large. They include Michael Clark, Kim Troupe and Scott Weissenbach.
And there will be contested races for two of the four open positions on the Perry-Lecompton USD 343 Board.
Three candidates are seeking position 2, which is currently held by Tiffany Bell who didn’t file for re-election. They include Wendy George, Justin VanWinkle and Tawnia Showalter.
Incumbent Jenny Morgison is being challenged by Shane Jones in her bid for re-election to position 3.
