(KAIR)--Hundreds gathered at the Atchison Heritage Conference Center Saturday evening for the Atchison Area Chamber of Commerce's annual banquet.
The event honored several local businesses and individuals for their contributions to the Atchison community, and Chamber President Jacque Pregont says that she feels that the banquet was a big success with a large crowd and a dinner that got rave reviews.
The banquet also featured the induction of Karen Seaberg into the Chamber's Hall of Fame. Pregont says that Mickey and Minnie Mouse were able to surprise Seaberg with an appearance followed by a small parade in her honor. Governor Sam Brownback also made an appearance with United States Senator Jerry Moran.
Businesses and individuals honored at the event included Strong's Body Shop, who won the Business of the Year award; and Katie McDowell who took home this year's Leadership award.
