(KAIR)--The Atchison Police Department completed their annual report for 2014 recently, and the numbers show that it was a good year.
Police Chief Mike Wilson says he is particularly happy with the department's clearance rate. He explains that “We are encouraged when we see that not only that the criminal cases from 2013 continue to be low, but what is also important to me is the clearance rate. We work about 1,600 criminal cases a year, and we are pleased to say that we had a 68 percent clearance rate last year. Which means everything from cases of high solvability to those with low solveablity such as criminal damage”.
Wilson says that the 68 percent clearance rate is very high compared to the national average.
