(KAIR)--A police investigation into alleged sex crimes against a child led to the arrest of an Atchison man Friday evening.
According to Police Chief Mike Wilson, the investigation started on December 30th after police were contacted by the the Department of Children and Families, who had received information that the abuse was allegedly taking place. Wilson says the investigation showed that that female victim was allegedly abused multiple times over a three year period starting in the fall of 2011 when she was 11-years-old.
37-year-old Charles Philips was located in Downtown Atchison Friday, and taken into custody shortly after 6:00. He was booked into the Atchison County Jail on charges including rape and aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
