(KNZA)--Seven people were injured in a blaze that destroyed a home in the northwest Missouri town of Agency Thursday evening.
KQ2-TV reports firefighters responded to the home in the 67-hundred block of Southeast 4th Street shortly after 5 to see flames shooting out the roof.
Five children were trapped on the second floor of the home by flames and were injured when they jumped out a window to escape. The children’s mother and father were on the main floor and made it out safely.
Two firefighters were also injured while fighting the blaze. One suffered smoke inhalation and the other suffered an injury after slipping and falling.
Two crews from the South Central Buchanan County Fire Department responded along with firefighters from DeKalb and Rushville.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
