(KLZA)-- Nebraska students who honored veterans in 2014 are being honored as well by Secretary of State John Gale. Certificates of recognition have been sent to 137 schools that notified Sec. Gale they hosted a program for Veterans Day.
Gale says there is a larger purpose associated with the Honor a Veteran program. “Returning home can be a challenge for some veterans. This program helps to remind them that they are appreciated and connected to their communities. It also reminds students about the importance of acknowledging the sacrifices made by men and women in the military.”
Among the schools honored for hosting Veterans Day Programs were: Falls City Public Schools, Pawnee City Public Schools, Johnson County Central Public Schools, Sterling Public Schools, Johnson-Brock Public Schools, Lourdes Central Catholic and Nebraska City Public Schools.
