(KAIR)--An Atchison couple has entered no contest pleas to child abuse related charges.
32-year-old Virginia Paxton and her husband, 44-year-old Christopher Paxton made an appearance in Atchison County District Court Friday morning to enter the pleas.
Each pleaded to one count of misdemeanor child endangerment, while Virginia Paxton pleaded to an additional count of misdemeanor battery.
Sentencing has been scheduled for February 6th.
The couple was arrested in late November after an investigation by the Atchison Police Department. The investigation started after police were contacted by the Department of Children and Families regarding the possible abuse of a ten year old boy at a residence located in the 1700 block of Chestnut Street. Investigators say that living conditions in the home contributed to the neglect. The child also had a facial injury.
