(KLZA)-- The Johnson-Brock Board of Education met Monday. Deb Damme addressed the Board regarding research she has done concerning Valedictorian / Salutatorian and what other schools use for criteria in their selection.
Later in the meeting a motion by Board member Steve Clark and seconded by Keith Bohling, to change Board Policy 6007 to include Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude and limit Valedictorian and Salutatorian to one student each was defeated 5-1.
The Board did approved the 2015-16 Negotiated Agreement with the Johnson-Brock Education Association with an increase to the base salary of $600.
It was reported the building project at the Johnson-Brock School has been completed. Final payments will be made. A total of $838,035 was borrowed for the project with the total cost being $1,370,000.
Superintendent Jeff Koehler gave each Board member an evaluation form for the annual superintendent evaluation, asking each member to complete the form and return it to Board member Darren Oestmann prior to the January Board meeting.
A 17-minute executive session was held for the purpose of protecting the public interest and preventing needless injury to the reputation of an individual.
A plaque was presented to Arlen Grotrian recognizing him for eight years of service to the school district as a member of the Board.
