(KNZA)--A special retirement is being acknowledged by the Sac and Fox Police Department.
According to a press release, the department's K9 officer, Syrus, ended his career on Monday.
The German Shepherd joined the Sac and Fox Police Department on September 28th, 2009, assisting several law enforcement agencies in both Kansas and Nebraska.
Syrus will spend his retirement years living with his handler.
He was certified in Apprehension, Area Search, Building Search, Control, Tracking, Evidence Search and Drug Detection.
Syrus was purchased, trained and certified by Rivera Police Canine in Junction City, Kansas.
