(KLZA)-- There will be some changes in parking in downtown Pawnee City. The Council Monday night voted to delete three parking spaces on the Northwest side of the Pawnee County Courthouse. There have been some near misses on accidents at the corner due to not being able to see around parked cars. The Council voted to delete the three parking stalls from the circle drive on the north side of the Courthouse, west to F Street. The curb will be painted red and barricades put in place for a period of time.
In other action the Council received a report on a condemned property at 1138 G Street. The property owners had 30 days to take action but the time has now lapsed. Foreman Clint Johnson is to gather prices for demolition including having it tested for asbestos. Passing a resolution including the prices is the next step for the Council. It will then be served on the property owners.
The Council also reviewed a new farm pasture lease on the well property. The properties will be put together as one lease now with bids for the lease to be awarded at the December 22 Council meeting. The hay ground lease was awarded to Debbie and Ryan Wissler.
Insurance with the League Association of Risk Management through the Nebraska League of Municipalities was reviewed following LARM’s review of the City properties. The additional cost will be $1,600 making the pro-rated 10-month cost for insurance $40,568.
Approval was given to advertise for bids for a three-quarter ton pickup for the City. Bids will be opened December 22nd. A maintenance agreement with the Nebraska Department of Roads concerning highways through Pawnee City was renewed.
Derek Hansher addressed the Council concerning snow removal. He was of the opinion the City should have removed the snow on the streets when it snowed recently. The City ordinance concerning snow removal was reviewed. There is to be more than two inches of snow before the City Crew is sent out to remove snow from the streets due to the costs.
Council members also approved several housing rehabilitation grant projects .
