(KNZA)--Construction of a Walmart Supercenter in Holton is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2015.
That's according to a statement released by company spokeswoman Anne Hatfield, which follows the City of Holton, and the Kansas Department of Transportation, ironing out safety concerns regarding traffic issues near the site of the new store.
The road improvements, to be conducted by the city, and funded by KDOT, will extend Banner Road and allow Walmart to align its south side entrance off the newly constructed roadway, meaning safer access for motorists entering the parking lot.
The 70,000 square foot store will be constructed at the southern city limits of Holton, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 75 and Banner Road.
The safety concerns were the final roadblock to allowing approval of the construction, with the Holton City Commission on November 3rd giving that approval to the final plat.
According to Hatfield, the supercenter, complete with a gas station, is on track to open by the spring of 2016.
