(KNZA)--The Hiawatha Board of Education has approved an Eagle Scout project at the high school football stadium.
The board this week gave senior Nicholas Reese approval to do a landscaping project around the scoreboard in order to complete his Eagle Scout rank in the Boy Scout program.
Reese says he plans to plant a pair of shrubs and five perennials, and place a rock with a Redhawk insignia in the middle. A concrete edging will be used around the project.
Reese says Grimm Gardens will supervise the project. He said other seniors could help for community service hours.
Reese will cover the cost of the project through fund-raising efforts, and there will be no cost to the district.
