(KNZA)--Unemployment was down in area northeast Kansas in September compared to August and a year ago.
That’s according to figures released Friday by the Kansas Department of Labor.
Nemaha County had the lowest jobless rate at 2.5 percent while Atchison County had the highest at 5.2 percent.
Elsewhere, Brown County’s unemployment rate in September stood at 3.2 percent; Doniphan, 4.5 percent; Jackson, 3.8 percent; Jefferson, 4.4 percent; Leavenworth, 5 percent; Marshall, 2.7 percent and Pottawatomie, 3.6 percent.
Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in September was 4.8 percent, down from 4.9 percent in August and 5.3 percent in September 2013.
