(KNZA)--A Topeka teen, charged in a Holton child abuse case, has pleaded not guilty to the related charges.
Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller says 18-year-old Koylen McKinney entered the plea in a Jackson County courtroom Thursday after waiving his right to a preliminary hearing.
He's charged with felony counts of aggravated battery, abuse of a child and aggravated endangerment of a child.
A jury trial was set for January 13th.
McKinney, who remains jailed in Jackson County, was arrested April 18th.
That followed a medical call to a Holton apartment complex where a 7-month-old boy was found unresponsive, following the alleged abuse.
Miller says the victim suffered brain damage.
