(KNZA)--Only minor delays are expected for motorists once bridge work begins in Jefferson County.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says preparation for the repair and overlay of the K-4 Bridge over Walnut Creek is set to start Wednesday.
Included with the work, which will take place during weekday daylight hours, will be concrete patching on the bridge deck and bridge rails followed by a polymer overlay and new pavement markings.
The bridge is located just over 4 miles northeast of the K-16 junction.
Beginning Thursday, northbound and southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane for both directions, running 24-hours, for the duration of the project.
The scheduled completion date is late November if weather allows.
Topeka-based PCI Roads, LLC. is the primary contractor on the more than $280,000 project.
