(KAIR)--Unrelated incidents, all involving the same 13-year-old girl, land three Atchison teens into legal trouble, but only one has so far been taken into custody in connection with unlawful sexual relations with the victim.
Police Chief Mike Wilson says the several week investigation, leading to the three teen suspects, was launched after information regarding the unlawful sexual relationships surfaced during a court hearing involving the girl. [The investigation] actually focuses on a case from October of 2013,” Wilson tells MSC News. There were several incidents that occurred that fall of '13 involving a 13-year-old girl. That information surfaced a couple weeks ago. We actually have several suspects on other occasions in October of 2013 that occurred.”
A 17-year-old male, who was 16 at the time of the alleged incident, was arrested Thursday. He is identified as (Dee-quon) Dequan Rawles, who was on probation for another sex-related crime at the time of the alleged incident with the 13-year-old. He was certified as an adult in relation to the past offense, and will remain so in the latest case.
Booked into the Atchison County Jail, his bond is set at $200,000.
Rawles is expected to appear in court on September 12th.
Two 18-year-olds, who were 17 at the time of the alleged crimes, have not been taken into custody, but issued summonses to appear in court. Their names are not immediately available.
The Atchison County Attorney's office is reviewing the case.
