( KNZA)--A rear-end collision at the junction of U.S. 36 and K-238 Highways in the Doniphan County community of Elwood Monday morning sent a Turpin, Oklahoma woman to the hospital.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 55-year-old Barbara Caldwell was eastbound on U.S. 36 when she slowed to allow an oversized load to emerge and her sport utility vehicle was struck in the rear by an eastbound vehicle driven by 43-year-old Easton, Missouri resident Mallory Armfield shortly after 9. Caldwell was transported to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph for treatment of unspecified injuries. Armfield wasn’t hurt.
The Patrol says both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
