(KLZA)-- Unemployment figures were on the rise locally and statewide in Nebraska during the month of July.
The latest report from the Nebraska Department of Labor indicates the state unemployment rate was up 2-tenths to 3.9 percent in July.
At the local county level July unemployment rates were mostly higher as well.
Nemaha County, Nebraska is tied for the fourth highest unemployment rate in the state at 5.8 percent. Other unemployment rates for July were Richardson County 4.8 percent, Johnson County 4.1 percent, Pawnee County 3.6 percent, Gage County 5.3 and Otoe County 3.9 percent.
Nebraska’s 3.9 percent unemployment rate is still the second best in the U.S., bested only by the 2.8 percent unemployment rate in North Dakota.
Iowa is tied for 9th at 4.5 percent; Kansas is 14th at 4.9 percent and Missouri is 32nd at 6.5 percent.
