(KAIR)--Plans to open a new private school in Atchison are moving forward.
The staff at Riverbend International School is hard at work making the final preparations needed to open the school early next month.
The school, which is set on the site of the former Atchison Youth Residential Center, is scheduled to start classes on September 2nd.
School President Carol Kwan says the school is fully accredited with the state of Kansas to teach all required high school classes, but their focus will be in Science, technology, engineering, and math.
Kwan adds that tuition assistance is available to students who meet certain requirements. A full scholarship will be offered to students with at least a 3.0 grade point average. Kwan says this will be available to students in Atchison and surrounding areas.
The Riverbend International School will be hosting an Open House event Saturday morning from 9:00-11:00 for anyone interested in learning more about the school. Campus tours and demonstrations of classroom technology will be available.
KAIR radio will be broadcasting live from the event. A pair of RenFest tickets will be awarded to two more finals for our big 75th anniversary giveaway.
