(KMZA)--A student at the University of Kansas School of nursing is named as the recipient of the Henry W. Hoppenstedt Nursing Scholarship from Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville.
Kash Patrick Brown, a 2009 graduate of Frankfort High School, receives the scholarship in the amount of $2,000.
Brown, the son of Patrick Brown and Stacy Brown, of Frankfort, was honored this month during a noon luncheon.
He calls his mother, who is a nurse, his inspiration to pursue a career in that field.
The scholarship program is made possible through the Henry W. Hoppenstedt Trust and was created in 2006 to advance nursing and nursing education. Hoppenstedt, born and raised near Herkimer, spent his life farming and raising livestock. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. A patient of Community Memorial Healthcare, Hoppenstedt was especially fond of nursing staff members who cared for him during his stays at the hospital.
