(KNZA)--The loss of the long time children's services librarian at Doniphan County's Library District Number 1 has caused an outcry from the public.
A Facebook page, to show support for “Miss” Cindy Hoverson has been set up, titled “Just SOCK It-Support Our Miss Cindy and Kids.”
The 481 members are actively engaged in discussion about the issue, as well as posting memories of time spent with the well-liked children's librarian.
Hoverson has also posted to the page, expressing her gratitude for the “support and caring concern” that's been shown, adding that she has “made mistakes and made poor decisions” but trusts that what is best for her and Doniphan County “will win out.”
A reason for Hoverson's absence from the district library has not been made public, with personnel matters cited as the reason for the decision apparently made during the Library Board's special meeting of July 29th.
MSC News has emailed a request to Library Director Maggie McKeithan for the minutes of that session, along with asking why the decision regarding Hoverson was made.
A response is currently being awaited.
Prior to accepting her role with the Doniphan County Library District, Hoverson served for many years as Children's Librarian at the Atchison Public Library.
A similar outcry of support also erupted in Atchison after her employment ended for reasons that were never made public.
