(KAIR)--An Atchison man was arrested Sunday after police found what appeared to be a sizable amount of marijuana in his possession.
Police Chief Mike Wilson reports that it happened when an officer on patrol spotted several individuals walking away from a vehicle parked in a vacant lot located in the 600 block of Sixth Street just after midnight. Smelling what he believed to be marijuana, the officer found what appeared to be a sizable amount of the illegal weed in and around the vehicle.
24-year-old Jerron Cheeks-Beard was arrested at the scene and transported to the Atchison County Jail. He is facing one charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
