(KNZA)--The 4th annual Jackson County Rodeo, sponsored by the Jackson County Fair Association, and again serving as the unofficial kick-off of the Jackson County 4H Fair, is set to happen this weekend, featuring a total of ten events. They include ranch-style bronc riding, team roping, bareback bronc riding, tie down calf roping, barrel racing, break-away roping, steer wrestling, bull riding. Also included are two child-friendly events, mutton busting and mini bull riding.
Spokeswoman Deb Dillner says the rodeo will take place two nights, Friday and Saturday, at the Northeast Kansas Heritage Complex, located 1 ½ miles south of Holton. Attendees need to use the south entrance on 214 Road.
Gates open at 6:00 both evenings, with the rodeo action set to start at 8:00.
Admission is $6.00 at the gate, with children five and under free. Concessions will be available, but coolers may be brought for a $5.00 fee.
As for the Jackson County Fair itself, that's set to happen next week, running from Monday through Friday at the Fair Grounds in Holton.
