Construction Manager Contract Approved for Jail Addition
(KMZA)--The Nemaha County ( Ks ) Commission has approved a contract with the Bern-based firm selected to serve as construction manager at risk for a new 32-bed jail addition.
The Commission on Monday approved a contract with AHRS Construction, which was signed by Commission Chairman Tim Burdiek.
The firm will give commissioner’s a guaranteed maximum price for the about 15,000-square-foot addition. Based on that figure, the commission will decide whether to proceed with the project which they plan to finance through existing capital outlay funds.
During the pre-construction phase, AHRS will be paid of a fee not to exceed $8,500 for their services.
In other business, representatives of the Rural Development Association of Northeast Kansas met with the Commission to review the services they provide to Nemaha County residents and present their 2015 budget request.
The economic development organization is requesting $30,000, which is the same amount approved for 2014.
The commission will consider the request when preparing the 2015 county budget.
