(KAIR)--An Atchison man facing several charges in connection with a burglary at a local business has agreed to a plea deal.
33-year-old Michael McGuire appeared in Atchison County District Court Friday afternoon to plead guilty to charges of burglary and possession of hydrocodone. In exchange for the plea, a charge of criminal damage to property was dropped.
Sentencing has been set for July 25th.
McGuire was arrested May 14th after a traffic stop for a defective headlight. Police identified him as the same person who had broken into the Kex-Rx pharmacy earlier that day. The vehicle he was in had been reported stolen by its owner, and McGuire still had some of the drugs he had removed from the store in his possession.
