Robinson's Bob Idol Remembered

(KNZA)--A well known member of the Robinson community is being remembered for his legacy.

Bob Idol was 87-years-old when he died Sunday at the Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha.

The onetime President and Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Robinson, also served as Mayor during his time on the City Council. Idol will long be remembered for the role he played in what has become an annual tradition in the region, responsible for starting the Robinson Melodrama, serving as director for 25-years. He also organized the Firehouse Five Band, with both accomplishments stemming from his role in the Robinson Lions Club where he served as a charter member.

Idol was also well known for playing taps during military graveside services, performing that service from the 8th grade until he turned 80.

A Celebration of his life will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 at the Robinson United Methodist Church.

The Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha is in charge of the arrangements.
