(KNZA)--A vehicle strikes a horse on U.S. 75 Highway north of Holton Thursday evening, leaving a Topeka woman dead.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says 58-year-old Vicki Self was a passenger in a southbound Chevy Trailblazer that struck a horse on the highway north of the 246th Road intersection around 9:30.
Self was taken to a Topeka hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Morse said the driver of the Trailblazer wasn’t hurt.
He said investigators believe the horse was knocked over the top of the vehicle and went partially through the windshield. The horse was killed in the collision.
Morse said a second southbound vehicle also hit the horse, but the driver wasn’t hurt.
