Biking Across Kan. Stops Planned in Local Communities

(KNZA)-- Hundreds of bicyclists participating in the 40th annual Biking Across Kansas event will make stops in the local area this week.

The nearly 550-mile ride across the state began last Saturday near the Kansas-Colorado border west of Elkhart and will end this Saturday in White Cloud near the Missouri River.

The cyclists will spend Thursday night in Oskaloosa before traveling to Hiawatha on Friday, where they will spend their final night.

The entire Biking Across Kansas entourage is expected to include 800 to 900 people.

The event began in 1975 and has been held annually ever since. The route varies from year to year.

During their stop in Hiawatha, the riders will be met with a grand ceremony, including live music.
