(KTNC)-- The Pawnee City Swimming Pool is closed temporarily, due to a shortage of lifeguards.
City officials say most of the lifeguards are participating in a volleyball camp through Thursday and another guard is out of town. City Clerk Tammy Stephens says they have been calling other towns to try to find fill-in guards. Anyone who would like to be a substitute lifeguard in Pawnee City should apply at Pawnee City Hall.
Stephens says they hope to reopen the pool on Friday. Until then, she says to call ahead before going to Pawnee City to swim.
When the pool does reopen, Stephens says the first midnight swim is scheduled on Saturday, June 21. The event is open to anyone age 12 and older, with a charge of $3 per person.
Swimming lessons will be held at the Pawnee City pool. Two sessions are scheduled – June 23 to 27, and July 28 through August 1 – with a cost is $20. Sign up for lessons by calling or stopping by the pool…when it’s open.
