(KNZA)--The Emergency Department at the Holton Community Hospital has been designated as a Level IV Trauma Center.
The decision to do so was made by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
According to a press release, Level IV trauma centers are rural hospitals who serve the primary role of stabilizing seriously injured patients and then, if necessary, transferring them to a higher level trauma center.
Holton Community Hospital achieved the designation by demonstrating a commitment to providing optimal care for those who have been seriously injured.
