(KAIR)--Airplanes of all different types will be flying into the Amelia Earhart Airport this weekend as the Experimental Aircraft Association prepares for it's annual Vintage and Experimental Aircraft Fly In Event.
President of the local EAA chapter Doug Wildhagan says when the event started over 47 years ago, it took place over an entire weekend, when the original EAA group would come up on a Friday, show off their planes all day Saturday, attend a banquet Saturday night, and leave on Sunday. Now, the event is just held on one day.
Wildhagan says the event is not only for vintage aircraft enthusiasts, but for anyone who may be interested in seeing some of the different kinds of aircraft up close. He says it's just an open invitation for anyone who wants to fly their vintage aircraft in and meet and talk with other enthusiasts.
Wildhagan adds that there will be a wide range of vintage aircraft at the event, ranging from antique planes to modern aircraft, with even some home built planes being shown off as well.
In addition to the aircraft displays, Wildhagan says there will be activities for kids, and local car clubs will be showing off several vintage cars.
The Vintage and Experimental Aircraft Fly In Event will take place Saturday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. The event is free, and everyone is invited to attend.
