(KNZA)--The Prairie Hills USD 113 board of education took no action during a special meeting Tuesday evening on the hiring of a new superintendent.
The board spent nearly 4 hours in executive session to discuss the hiring of a superintendent to replace Dr. Bill Orth who resigned from his position, effective May 1st.
The board at their May 12th meeting voted to offer the position internally and asked those interested to submit a resume and cover letter by last Friday.
The Sabetha Herald reports current Sabetha High School principal Todd Evans confirms he applied for the position. Evans has served as principal for 15 years.
According to the meeting minutes, Evans spent about 2 hours in closed-door session with the board during the special meeting.
Assistant Superintendent Volora Hanzlicek has been serving as interim superintendent since the resignation of Orth, but told the board at their May 12th meeting she isn’t interested in taking the position permanently.
