(KNZA)--A former area state representative is seeking a return to public office.
Holton Republican Becky Hutchins filed Monday for the Kansas House of Representatives, representing the 61st District. The district includes Jackson and Pottawatomie Counties.
She is the first candidate to file for the position currently held by St. Marys Republican Richard Carlson. Carlson has announced he won’t seek re-election.
Hutchins previously represented the former 50th District in the Kansas House from 1994 to 2006.
Candidates have until noon, June 2nd to file.
