(KNZA)--Beginning on Monday and continuing through Sunday, June 1st, motorists can expect to see an increased law enforcement presence on area roads.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Department, Hiawatha Police Department and Kansas Highway Patrol are among those who will be participating in the 2014 Kansas Click It or Ticket traffic enforcement campaign.
They will be conducting special patrols — day and night — to identify and ticket unrestrained drivers and passengers.
The special traffic enforcement program is supported by a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation which pays the overtime of officers.
“Click It or Ticket” has been credited with increasing Kansas’ seat belt usage rate. Statistics show that wearing a seat belt increases the chances of surviving a crash by more than 50 percent.
