(KAIR)--Rumors have been swirling for days regarding what's believed to be improper activities involving an adult and Atchison High School students.
Despite the speculation, there's no reason for alarm. That word from USD 409 Superintendent of Schools Dr. Susan Myers, who says while the adult is associated with the district, the unnamed person is not a district employee. “At this time, it's just our understanding there's a KBI investigation [but] we haven't really been drawn into it,” Myers tells MSC News. “We are cooperating with the KBI and our County Attorney's office. Obviously, we do anything we can to protect our students. Staff and student safety is always important to us.”
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has been contacted regarding the apparent investigation. However, they decline to offer any immediate comment on the matter, leaving details of the case, including the name of a potential suspect, unspecified.
