(KMZA)--The Nemaha County Commission has received a proposal for a staffed ambulance service to cover the same area of the county currently covered by the Seneca EMS.
Representatives of the Seneca EMS presented the Commission this week with a proposed contract of $458,000 annually to provide the service.
The proposal would include one fully staffed paid ambulance unit to cover 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; one on-call volunteer paid ambulance unit to cover 24/7; and one call back volunteer unpaid ambulance unit to cover as needed only if the first two units are busy.
The commission was told the proposal would help solve the problems that the EMS encounters with the shortage of available volunteers.
The commission took no action, but agreed to again meet with the Seneca EMS representatives soon.
