(KLZA) -- A 42-year old Falls City man was arrested early Monday morning following an altercation with law enforcement officials.
Falls City Police Officer James Wasson responded to a disturbing the peace complaint in the 1000 block of Stone Street just past midnight, Monday.
Upon arrival Officer Wasson came into contact with Scott D. Hayes who was sitting in the drivers side of a vehicle. Officer Wasson began a driving under the influence investigation and at that point Hayes allegedly became combative and non-compliant.
Hayes was arrested on a felony charge of assault against Officer Wasson, DUI, a felony charge of resisting arrest, a felony charge of terroristic threats, and criminal mischief. A complaint was also signed against Hayes for disturbing the peace, which was the original complaint.
Following his arrest and being jailed, Hayes allegedly threatened a Jailer, and threatened to harm himself. Sheriff Randy Houser said Hayes is facing additional felony charges of terroristic threats and criminal mischief and a charge of obstructing government operations. Hayes allegedly flooded his fourth floor jail cell and water ran down through the floor into the third floor of the courthouse.
Hayes was transported from the Richardson County Jail to the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center in Lincoln early Monday morning.
Hayes previously has been sent to prison four times. The first time on a felony theft charge. Two times for assaulting a police officer and another time on charges of assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
