(KAIR)--The Royal Theater in Atchison has reopened with a new owner after shutting down earlier this year.
Ownership of the theater changed after Troy Fickle, who is part of a company that specializes in digital projection systems, tried to get the previous owner to upgrade the theater's equipment. The old owner decided to not invest the money for the upgrade, and offered to sell the theater to Fickle, who agreed with the understanding he would take over for six months to make sure it would be beneficial for both him and the community.
Fickle has already installed digital projection, and is working now on other upgrades to the building.
The theater reopened last weekend, and Fickle says that until attendance picks up a bit, it will only be open for weekend shows.
