(KNZA)--A man who had been reported missing from Topeka has been found dead in Jackson County.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse said Jackson County authorities were notified early Sunday morning that the man might be enroute to Jackson County from the Topeka area.
Jackson County sheriff’s deputies and Potawatomi Tribal Police officers began searching for the man in southwestern Jackson County.
Around 8 Sunday morning, authorities found the man dead from an apparent gunshot wound in a wooded area about a half a mile east of 118th and I Road. The body was located on the property of a private Jackson County wildlife preserve.
Morse says the man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County coroner. He says foul play isn’t suspected.
His name isn’t being released at this time pending the notification of family.
