(KNZA)--The outcome of the latest statewide seat belt enforcement effort headed by the Kansas Highway Patrol is made public.
The Patrol joined with local communities, including Hiawatha and Horton, to conduct the campaign in areas around high schools.
Statewide, 123 teen seat belt citations, for those aged 14 to 17, were issued. 493 adult seat belt citations were also issued, along with 67 for child restraint violations.
The Kansas Department of Transportation Safety and Technology hosts the two-week SAFE, Seat Belts Are For Everyone, awareness campaign in an effort to decrease the number of fatal crashes involving teens not properly buckled up.
