(KNZA)--The second and final town hall meeting is set Monday evening in Hiawatha on the proposed new city-owned movie theater project.
The meeting will take place beginning at 6 at the Brown County Historical Society Memorial Auditorium located in the 600-block of Utah Street.
Mayor Crosby Gernon says information will be presented on the proposed project and questions answered from those in attendance.
Hiawatha voters will decide during the April 1st general election the fate of a half-cent city-wide retailer’s sales tax increase to fund construction of a proposed about 78-hundred square foot three-screen theater at total estimated cost of nearly $1.7 million.
The ballot referendum would also allow revenue from the sales tax, projected to generate $330,000 annually, to be used for recreational and economic development purposes, with those choices to be determined by future commission’s as funds permit.
Information on the sales tax proposal and proposed theater is also available on-line at arrowtheater.com.
