(KAIR)--Details are released regarding a shooting Wednesday in Muscotah that sent a young man to the hospital.
Atchison County Sheriff's Investigator Larry Myer says it happened at the home of 19-year-old Isaac Bohnenkemper located in the 200 block of East Third Street.
Myer says Bohnenkemper and an acquaintance, 18-year-old Nathan Julo of Atchison, were examining a new firearm when Julo was shot at close range in the right leg.
Julo was transported to Horton Community Hospital, but was later transferred to Topeka's Stormont-Vail for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.
Myer says officials do not think that Bohnenkemper shot Julo intentionally, but believe the firearm was handled recklessly.
The Sheriff's Department is continuing to investigate the case, and will forward their findings to the Atchison County Attorney for the possible filing of charges.
