Atchison County native Jeff Schuele, shown here in this MSC News file photo, has been appointed as the new Executive Director of Live Well, Live Atchison.
(KAIR)--The Atchison County Commission has received bids from several companies that want to provide the road oil needed to complete several road projects in the county.
Commission Chair Jeff Schuele says three bids were received for both types of oil the county requires. For the oil used for chip sealing roads, the low bid came from Vance Brothers at $2.17 a gallon, versus $2.47 from Ergon, and $2.49 from Coastal. For the asphalt adhering oil, Vance Brothers also had the low bid of $2.70 a gallon, with Ergon bidding $2.42, and Coastal bidding $2.28.
Schuele says the commission will take future plans into consideration when deciding on which bid to accept, as they will be trying some new things moving forward such as using some different surfacing that typically lasts longer.
The commission decided to table any action, and instructed County Road and Bridge Superintendent Matt Dorsom to review each bid correctly, and to start making a plan of action as soon as possible.
