New K-9 for Marshall County Sheriff's Dept.
02/07/2014

(KMZA)--The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department will be getting a new drug detection and tracking dog.

The County Commission this week approved the purchase of the dog, a Belgium Malinois, from K-9 Working Dogs International of Longford, Kansas for a cost of $12,000, which includes three weeks of training and housing for the handler.

$3,000 of the cost will be covered by a grant and the remainder will come from the sheriff’s special reserve fund, which is money from drug and other forfeitures.

The sheriff’s department previous K-9 died last October.
