(KNZA)--Unemployment fell in most area northeast Kansas counties in December.
That’s according to a new report released this week by the Kansas Department of Labor. Nemaha County had the lowest jobless rate in December at 2.7 percent while Atchison County had the highest at 6.2 percent.
Elsewhere, Jefferson County’s unemployment rate stood at 5.6 percent; Leavenworth, 5.6 percent; Doniphan, 4.8 percent; Jackson, 4.2 percent; Pottawatomie, 4.4 percent; Brown, 4 percent; and Marshall, 3.1 percent.
All the figures are down from November except in Jackson and Leavenworth Counties, which saw their jobless rates hold steady. All the unemployment rates were down from December 2012.
Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 4.9 percent in December from November’s 5.1 percent. Last month’s figure was also down from 5.5 percent in December 2012.
